1. The Korean government expresses grave concern over the verdicts in the trial of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, who were charged with incitement as well as violations of COVID-19 regulations.

The Korean government supports a peaceful resolution of the situation in Myanmar and calls for an immediate end to violence against its own people, the release of those detained including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, and the implementation of the five-point consensus reached at the ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in April.

3. The Korean government expresses concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Myanmar and hopes that democracy would be promptly restored in Myanmar. The Korean government will keep a close eye on the situation in Myanmar and continue to cooperate with the international community, including ASEAN and the UN, in order to contribute to resolving the current situation.
