1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on Sunday morning, October 31 (local time), on the occasion of the G20 Summit in Rome, and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations between Korea and the U.S., Korean Peninsula issues, and global issues such as COVID-19 response.

2. The two agreed on the importance of stable management of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and had earnest discussions on ways for the early resumption of the Korean Peninsula Peace Process including the end-of-war declaration.

3. The two appreciated that the ironclad Korea-U.S. alliance is developing into a comprehensive global alliance, expanding the areas of cooperation from regional issues in Northeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region to global issues including global supply chains and COVID-19.

4. Foreign Minister Chung and Secretary Blinken noted with appreciation the close communication carried out between the two countries on various occasions despite the COVID-19 situation, including meetings on the occasions of the UN General Assembly in September and the OECD Ministerial in October. They agreed to continue the close consultations with each other.
