1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the 11th Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Cyber Secretariat Workshop on September 15.
o Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be held in a video format. Delegates of FEALAC member countries and experts are expected to share ideas for inter-regional cooperation and exchanges.
2. In particular, this year’s workshop will be held under the theme of “10 years of FEALAC Cyber Secretariat: Revisiting and Moving Forward” to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the FEALAC Cyber Secretariat, which was officially inaugurated on March 15, 2011.
o The participants will assess the achievements of the Cyber Secretariat in the last ten years, and exchange ideas on ways to revitalize FEALAC cooperation in the post-COVID-19 era and the role of the Cyber Secretariat for this purpose.
o Meanwhile, the FEALAC Cyber Secretariat is celebrating its 10th anniversary through various commemorative events along with the Workshop, such as publishing the FEALAC Project Book and holding an exhibition.
3. The Republic of Korea has been playing active roles to enhance cooperation between East Asia and Latin America, including serving as Regional Coordinator twice; hosting the Cyber Secretariat; and leading the establishment of the FEALAC Trust Fund. The Korean government will continue its efforts to play a leading role in the development of FEALAC, as a platform for exchanges and cooperation with Latin America.
