1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon participated in a vice foreign ministerial video conference, chaired by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman, on August 20. The vice foreign ministers discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and the way forward.





  o Delegations from about 25 countries including the U.S., India, Japan, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland and Norway participated in the video conference.

     ※This video conference followed the conference call held on August 18 among the vice foreign ministers of 20 countries.

2. The participants reaffirmed the international community’s strong commitment to cooperation to achieve an early establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan. Especially, they shared the understanding that the accessibility, including to the Kabul Airport, is the most serious issue in supporting the safe departure of Afghanistan people, and agreed to continue close consultations on this issue.
