1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong spoke over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on August 18 and discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Afghanistan.

2. The two Foreign Ministers exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and future prospects.

° The two sides noted that the situation in Afghanistan has changed far more rapidly than the international community expected and agreed that peace and stability need to be restored at the earliest possible opportunity, and they agreed to cooperate closely to this end. 

3. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to further promote high-level exchanges between the two countries on the occasion of the recent official visit of the Korean National Assembly Speaker to Turkey on August 14-18.

4. The two Foreign Ministers commended the recent conclusion of the currency swap agreement and agreed to continue to develop mutually-beneficial economic and trade relations.
