1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon participated in a conference call among 20 countries’ vice foreign ministers, chaired by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman, on August 18. The vice foreign ministers exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and discussed the way forward.

o Delegations from the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, India, the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and more participated in the conference call.

2. The participants reached a common understanding that the international community should work closely together for early establishment of peace and stability in Afghanistan and the safe return of their nationals, and agreed to continue close consultations.
