1. Amb. Noh Kyu-duk, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, had a telephone conversation with Mr. Funakoshi Takehiro, Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the afternoon of August 2.

2. The two sides shared their assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula including the restoration of inter-Korean communication lines and exchanged views on ways for the ROK and Japan as well as the ROK, the U.S. and Japan to work together to make substantive progress toward the complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
