1. The Korea-Japan Future Forum and the Keio Center for Contemporary Korean Studies will co-host an expert forum on June 12 to explore ways to foster a future-oriented relationship between Korea and Japan.

° This seminar was launched in 2020 to promote people-to-people exchanges and communication between private sectors of Korea and Japan which underpin the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The seminar is participated by prominent opinion leaders in the academic, media, and cultural fields who are capable of carrying out multifaceted reviews of bilateral relations.

2. This year, the participants will discuss the latest issues between the two countries within the context of the shifting international landscape influenced by world events such as the COVID-19 pandemic vaccine roll out and the inauguration of the new U.S. administration. One key result envisioned to be produced from the discussion is for the group to identify future-oriented, mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation.

※ The seminar, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Korea, will be held in a hybrid online / offline video conferencing format in compliance with COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

3. This seminar is expected to increase mutual understanding and awareness between the peoples of Korea and Japan, despite communication and gathering difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as it plays a part in keeping the communication channel open for experts from the two countries.

4. In addition to this seminar, MOFA hosts programs to promote private-sector dialogue and cooperation with other neighboring countries, including the United States, China, Russia, and ASEAN member countries. MOFA will continue its efforts to facilitate communication on the private level in the future.
