1. The Korean government welcomes that the parties to the recent conflict between Israel and Palestine have reached an agreement to cease hostilities beginning on May 21. The Korean government highly appreciates the important role of the countries involved in the process leading to the ceasefire, including the United States and Egypt.

2. The Korean government hopes that the ceasefire agreement will be faithfully implemented and also that negotiations for the establishment of lasting peace between Israel and Palestine will resume soon.

3. The Korean government conveys its deep condolences to the families of the civilian victims of the recent clashes. It will make contributions needed to improve the humanitarian situation in the region, including alleviating the painful situation of people in Gaza.
