Outcome of Telephone Conversation between Foreign Ministers of Korea and Italy
1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong spoke over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio on May 14 and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, including bilateral relations between Korea and Italy, cooperation in multilateral channels such as the G7 and the G20, and regional situations.
- Foreign Minister Chung mentioned that Korea will participate in the 2021 G7 Summit and contribute actively to discussions on global issues, including health and climate change. The two Foreign Ministers agreed to cooperate for the success of the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit, which Korea will host at the end of May this year.
3. The two Foreign Ministers, noting that the two countries have been working closely together in such areas as response to climate change and COVID-19, agreed to continue collaboration in addressing global issues.
4. Foreign Minister Chung hoped to make tangible progress in the Korean Peninsula peace process through cooperation with the international community including Italy, and Foreign Minister Di Maio reaffirmed Italy’s support for the Korean government’s efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
