- Green Book Campaign and other participatory events promoting eco-friendly action set to begin

- Public-private cooperation as key enabler of 2021 P4G Seoul Summit promotion

1. The 2021 P4G Seoul Summit Preparatory Office (Executive Director: Yoo Yeon-chul) will push for various promotional campaigns to raise public awareness and encourage participation in the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit scheduled for May 30 to May 31.

P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) is a multilateral initiative aimed at achieving green growth and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 through global public-private cooperation. 12 Partner Countries including the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Denmark participate in the initiative, and a Summit is held biennially.

* Official Title of the P4G Summit: 2021 P4G Seoul Summit

The goal of the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit is to convey the message that individual actions will gather to create one big green movement, which in turn will catalyze everyone’s efforts for climate action. The slogan capturing this objective is “Green We Go, Change We Make.”

2. Under these goals and slogan, various PR campaigns are set to unfold, starting with the D-30 point (April 30) until the Summit.

First, the social media event “Green Book Campaign" was unveiled on the official 2021 P4G Seoul Summit social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, and KakaoTalk) on April 28.

- The "Green Book Campaign“ invites social media users to upload their everyday photos of eco-friendly habits and actions. The photos will be compiled and published into a book named the ”Green Book.“

- The significance of the “Green Book Campaign” is that it will create a symbolic and tangible asset that collectively gathers people’s will and resolve for green action.

Additional PR campaigns based on public-private cooperation will also take place, with various businesses and organizations practicing sustainable action as partners. In particular, Daelim Museum, IKEA Korea, Jeju Province Development Corporation (Jeju Samdasoo), Coupang, and Tree Planet have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Preparatory Office on April 20 to jointly promote the Summit. This partnership symbolizes the unique inclusiveness of P4G, in that the private and public sectors join hands to spread the green message.

- Daelim Museum, pursuing the vision of “everyday becomes art,” will hold a special art exhibition called "TONG's VINTAGE: Strange Tong’s Wholesale" from May 20 to July 25, featuring the works of 23 emerging Korean artists. The exhibition is expected to provide an opportunity for people to reflect on the significance of climate change responses and sustainable development.

- IKEA Korea will create a space featuring sustainable products in all IKEA branches (Gwangmyeong, Goyang, Giheung, and East Busan) for a month starting May 1, so that people can understand the importance of climate change and carbon neutrality in their lives and learn about the 2021 P4G Seoul Summit’s main goals.

- The manufacturer and distributer of Jeju Samdasoo, Jeju Province Development Corporation, will launch the ‘Jeju Samdasoo Green Edition,’ an eco-friendly version with no plastic labels. The corporation seeks to raise public awareness on the current system of recycling clear plastic bottles separately, as well as promote the recycling practice as a whole.

- Coupang is to host a sales promotion on ‘P4G Limited Edition’ items, which will be delivered via the company’s eco-friendly ‘Rocket Delivery.’ The sale is expected to contribute to the spread of sustainable consumption practices by introducing and selling eco-friendly and upcycled (repurposed) products in limited amounts.

- Tree Planet plans to donate plants to school classrooms after the Summit, seeking to offset the Summit-induced carbon emissions and make the children’s learning environment greener.

3. Executive Director Yoo Yeon-chul said, “The successful hosting of the Summit absolutely depends on the interest and participation of the general public, as well as the contribution of experts in all fields.”

He reiterated that "Not only will we proactively focus on promotional campaigns for the remaining month, but also make our utmost efforts to make the upcoming Summit a success by thoroughly checking all preparatory status and details.
