Outcome of Telephone Conversation between Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs and U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs (April 22)

1. Amb. Noh Kyu-duk, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, had a telephone conversation with Amb. Sung Kim, Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, on the morning of April 22.


2. The two sides appreciated continued close cooperation and coordination between the two countries during the U.S. policy review on North Korea, which is in its final stages, and exchanged views on ways for Korea and the U.S. to work together to make progress in achieving complete denuclearization and establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.


3. The two sides agreed to continue intensive consultations at each level for a successful Korea-U.S. summit in the second half of May.
