1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone conversation with Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on the morning of May 4 at the latter’s request and exchanged views on ways for cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka on response to COVID-19.

2. Minister Kang explained that, as a result of the united response to COVID-19 by the government and the people of the ROK in line with such principles as transparency, the COVID-19 situation has been showing signs of stabilizing in the ROK.

° Minister Gunawardena highly commended the ROK for successfully administering a parliamentary election even amid the COVID-19 situation on the basis of its outstanding disease control capability, and voiced hope for cooperation and support between the two countries in responding to COVID-19.

3. Minister Kang stressed that the two countries should make efforts to continue essential economic and people-to-people exchanges even under the difficult circumstances. Minister Gunawardena, sharing Minister Kang’s view, voiced hope to vitalize economic cooperation between the two countries.

4. The two Ministers, recognizing the importance of cooperation and experience sharing between the two countries in the process of responding to COVID-19, agreed that the foreign ministries will engage in close communication and exchanges.
