1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone conversation with Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, on January 28 at 21:00 (for 30 minutes), and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the protection of Koreans in China against the novel coronavirus, ways to extend assistance China may require, and summit- and high-level exchanges between the two countries.
2. Regarding the recent spread of the novel coronavirus in China, Minister Kang asked for the Chinese side’s continued cooperation in securing the safety of Koreans staying in China, including supporting their return; hoped that the situation will be brought under control swiftly and smoothly through the Chinese government’s active measures; and said that in the process, the ROK government will also extend active cooperation, including providing necessary supplies.
o State Councilor Wang explained the active measures taken by the Chinese government, including its leadership, in combating the novel coronavirus outbreak; said that in responding to the situation, China will continue close communication and cooperation with the ROK government, including cooperation to protect Koreans in China; and expressed appreciation for the ROK government’s willingness to provide support.
3. In addition, the two Ministers shared the view that summit- and high-level exchanges this year will serve as an opportunity to take the ROK-China relations to a higher level, and agreed to overcome the crisis together and accelerate communication and consultation on related preparations at each level.

two Ministers agreed to continue to closely consult and strengthen cooperation
on a range of issues of mutual interest.
