1st ROK-Poland Cyber Policy Consultation Held

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 1st Republic of Korea-Republic of Poland Cyber Policy Consultation in Warsaw on June 13, local time, during which the two sides agreed to continue cooperation in building a safe cyberspace.


° Ambassador for International Security Affairs Kim Gunn and Ambassador Marek Szczygieł, International Cybersecurity Policy Coordinator at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended as head delegates of the ROK and Poland the Consultation that also brought together officials of various cyber-related government agencies of the two countries.


2. In the Consultation, the two countries discussed the international cybersecurity environment, the United Nations’ framework for norms in cyberspace, and the European Union (EU)’s responses to cyber threats. They also discussed ways for the ROK and Poland to work together on cooperation between law enforcement agencies and in capacity building, etc., aimed at responding to cyber threats.


3. The ROK and Poland have closely worked together at multilateral stages, such as the UN. At their first Cyber Policy Consultation, the ROK and Poland took one step further and laid institutional groundwork for enhanced cooperation even at bilateral level.

° In particular, the two countries agreed to continue cooperation, as like-minded countries, in the United Nations’ process for developing and implementing norms in cyberspace as well as in responding to cyber threats.
