1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha will deliver a lecture on “peace” at Hansung University at 16:00, May 1, continuing communication with youth.

° In an effort to implement “diplomacy designed to communicate with and reach out to people,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave lectures at universities in 2018 and plans on continuing to do so in 2019.

° With the year 2019 marking the 100th anniversary of the March First Independence Movement and the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government, as well as with April 27 having marked the 1st anniversary of the Panmunjom Declaration, the forthcoming event will serve as an opportunity for the young adults to enhance their understanding on the significance of peace on the Korean Peninsula and deliberate on “peace,” a universal value.

° The lecture, which will be delivered to some 600 people, including undergraduate students and faculty members, in Hansung University’s Naksan Hall, will be broadcast live on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ LIVE MOFA.

2. Minister Kang Kyung-wha will stress that it is important for peace that individuals make efforts to “pursue the common good” at their respective positions; and will ask the young students to live “a life contributing to peace.”

° Minister Kang will share her experiences in the form of storytelling and in a way that can induce the students to more readily take part in the peace-building process and in foreign policy of the government of the Republic of Korea.

° The lecture is expected to win, from students of Hansung University, one of the educational goals of which is to “cultivate global citizens that pursue the common good,” broad support on the need for the pursuit of the common good.

3. The lecture event is expected to serve as an opportunity to enhance the youth’s understanding of peace and broaden the support base for the ROK government’s foreign policy.
