1. The government of the Republic of Korea strongly condemns the Japanese government’s approval on March 26 of elementary school textbooks that contain unjustifiable claims to Dokdo, clearly an integral part of the ROK territory historically, geographically and under international law; and demands an immediate withdrawal.

2. The Japanese government must clearly realize that the approved textbooks will instill even into elementary school students a wrong territorial notion based on an erroneous perspective of history and thereby bring about negative impact on the future-oriented development of the ROK-Japan relations.

3. The government of the Republic of Korea will respond sternly to any unjust claims to Dokdo by the Japanese government. The Japanese government, while squarely facing lessons of history, should act responsibly in educating its future generations.
