7th Meeting of ROK-Morocco Joint Committee to Take Place

1. Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs Yun Kang-hyeon and Secretary of State Mounia Boucetta of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco will hold the 7th meeting of the Republic of Korea-Morocco Joint Committee at the ROK Foreign Ministry on October 30.

 

7th ROK-Morocco Joint Committee Meeting

- Heads of delegations: (ROK side) Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, (Moroccan side) Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

- Delegations: (ROK side) 19 people from 8 government agencies, (Moroccan side) 16 people from 6 government agencies and organizations

 

2. In the meeting, which will come six years after the 6th Joint Committee meeting in 2012, the two sides will assess the ROK-Morocco relations, and discuss cooperation in a range of areas, including economic and trade affairs, technology, education, and culture.

 

3. Morocco is a representative ally where the ROK’s first diplomatic mission on the African continent was set up, and as a geographically important country connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, Morocco is considered a country which has great potential for growth based on political stability. The meeting is expected to serve as an opportunity to create a favorable environment to increase Korean companies’ presence in Morocco.

 

The ROK and Morocco forged diplomatic ties in July 1962, and the ROK opened its permanent diplomatic mission in Morocco in September 1962.
