KNDA to Open “2018 Seoul Academy of International Law”

1. The Center for International Law at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) will open the “2018 Seoul Academy of International Law” from July 2 to 13 for 46 people, including diplomats and other government officials, scholars, researchers and graduate students in the area of international law from home and 21 other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

2. The Seoul Academy will offer nine courses on international legal issues concerning East Asian and global matters, which will be lectured by President Paik Jin-hyun of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, former Under Secretary-General Kim Won-soo of the UN and professor Dapo Akande of the University of Oxford.  

 

3. The Republic of Korea is expected to use the KNDA’s third “Seoul Academy” program to help the Asia-Pacific region better understand issues concerning international law, to build an international legal network in the region and thereby to expand the country’s role as an international legal hub.
