1. The 198th meeting of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) Joint Committee will take place at the US Army Garrison Yongsan on November 21. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for North American Affairs Cho Koo-rae and Deputy Commander of US Forces Korea (USFK) Thomas W. Bergeson.

2. In the upcoming meeting, the two sides will look into issues concerning the implementation of SOFA, including environmental issues regarding US military bases in the ROK, facilitating the work of the SOFA Facilities and Areas Subcommittee, enhancing transparency in the implementation of SOFA, and increasing consultations within SOFA subcommittees, and discuss ways for the two sides to work together on SOFA.
