ROK and Australia to Hold their 4th Consultation on Development Cooperation Policy

1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the fourth Republic of Korea-Australia consultation on development cooperation policy in Canberra, Australia, on November 10. The ROK and Australian delegations to the consultation will be led by Director-General for Development Cooperation Jeong Jin-kyu of the Foreign Ministry and First Assistant Secretary Graham Fletcher of the North Asia Division of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, respectively.

2. In the upcoming consultation, the two sides will discuss issues of common interest, including inclusive partnerships with the private sector, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and development effectiveness.

o In particular, Australia, placing importance on innovative development cooperation through the participation of the private sector, is making active efforts to catalyze innovation, including establishing the InnovationXchange, an innovation center, within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

3. In the forthcoming consultation, the two sides will share their ideas about innovative public-private partnerships, and explore various ways to build an ODA ecosystem through innovative public-private partnerships. They will also discuss ways to work together on development cooperation, including ways to develop joint projects between the ROK and Australia.
