1. On October 6, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha visited “our house of peace” and the “house of sharing,” shelters run by the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan.
o Minister Kang delivered Chuseok gifts, and extended regards and greetings to the surviving victims of Japan’s wartime sexual slavery.
2. The victims expressed appreciation for Minister Kang’s visit, and asked the Minister to resolve the “comfort women” issue in an appropriate way.
o Minister Kang said that a task force, launched to review the “comfort women” agreement between the ROK and Japan, is working on the matter, and that an ROK government’s position on the agreement will be decided in consideration of the outcome report of the task force.
3. Minister Kang also sent gifts and letters to the victims who are living individually.
4. Minister Kang will meet the victims in person and listen to their opinions, whenever there is an opportunity to do so.
