1. Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will appoint 15 people with expertise in foreign affairs, security, organization, budget, personnel and administrative affairs from academia, the civil society, companies and relevant ministries as outside advisors on August 2, and officially launch the “outside advisory committee” for innovation in the Foreign Ministry.

2. By launching the outside advisory committee following the creation of the Foreign Ministry’s taskforce on innovation on July 11, the Ministry will listen to the opinions of people inside and outside the Ministry, and devise measures for innovation that can be agreed upon by more Korean people. In the process of doing so, members of the outside advisory committee will present candid, objective and level-headed opinions, taking into account the expectations of the people.

3. Immediately after the appointment ceremony, the first plenary meeting of the taskforce on innovation and the outside advisory committee will be chaired by the head of the taskforce on innovation (Special Advisor to the Minister Oh Young-ju). In the meeting, they will look into the current situations and problems in a range of areas, including organization, personnel and work culture, and exchange views on the way forward for innovation.

4. The Foreign Ministry will prepare drastic measures for innovation through robust and productive discussions between the taskforce on innovation and the outside advisory committee, and by doing so, will continue to work to become a “competent Foreign Ministry communicating with the public” that is trusted by the people of the ROK and appreciated by the international community.
