ROK and Morocco Hold the 6th Meeting of their Joint Cultural Committee

1. The sixth meeting of the Republic of Korea-Morocco Joint Cultural Committee took place at Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation on August 29, with Director-General for Cultural Affairs Choi Young-sam of the ROK Foreign Ministry and Director of Cultural Cooperation Lamia Radi of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation leading their respective delegations.

2. The ROK and Morocco, sharing the view that the two countries can enjoy cultural enrichment through more active bilateral exchanges based on their cultural capacities, agreed to work closely together on education, culture, sports and youth-related matters.

° They signed the 2016-2020 Plan for Cultural Exchanges that contains specific, relevant details.

3. The two sides, recognizing the importance of youth exchanges and cooperation on education for long-term and steady advances in the friendly and cooperative ties between their two countries, agreed to increase exchanges in the fields.

4. The government delegation from the ROK donated books of a Korean folktale about brotherhood that has been translated into Arabic, drawing keen interest from the Moroccan side.

5. The ROK and Morocco, having concluded the bilateral Agreement on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation in 1977, have held six meetings of their Joint Cultural Committee over the past 20 years since the first of its kind in 1993 in continued efforts to strengthen the institutional foundation for bilateral cultural cooperation.
