ROK to Dispatch a Special Envoy to the Inauguration Ceremony of the Argentine President

1. The government of the Republic of Korea will send Representative Kim Jae-kyung of the ruling Saenuri Party as special envoy of President Park Geun-hye to the inauguration ceremony of President Mauricio Macri of Argentina, which is set to take place on December 10.

2. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962, the ROK and Argentina have increased substantial cooperation across the board, including political affairs and economy. In particular, in the year 2015, which marks the 50th anniversary of Korean immigration to Argentina, large-scale cultural events have taken place with the support of the Argentine government.

3. During his visit to Argentina, special envoy Kim will attend the inauguration ceremony of new President Macri and extend congratulations to him on the occasion; meet with top-level officials of the new government to relay the hope of President Park Geun-hye and her government to see bilateral cooperation increase and deepen; and meet Korean residents in Argentina to offer them encouragement.

◦ In addition, the special envoy will stop over in São Paulo, Brazil, to meet with local Korean residents and heads of local branch offices of Korean companies.
