1. A ten-day invitation program for Japanese college students will take place from September 15 through 24, hosted by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Korea with the support of the Korea Foundation.

◦ Pursuant to the agreement reached at the fifth ministerial meeting between the Republic of Korea and Japan in 1971, the Foreign Ministries of the two countries have held the program on an annual basis since 1972 as part of the “ROK-Japan college exchange program,” inviting college students from each other’s countries.

* The “invitation program for Korean college students” for 2015 will be held from October 27 through November 5.

2. During the visit to the ROK, the Japanese student delegation, composed of a leader, a guide and 28 college students, will attend the ROK-Japan Festival on September 20; have first-hand experiences of various aspects of Korean culture, including hansik (traditional food), hanbok (traditional costume) and talchum (mask dance), and through home stays; and visit Jeju-do, an island of peace, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies to have an opportunity for exchanges with its students.

3. The more-than-40-year-old “ROK-Japan college exchange program” is establishing itself as a flagship scheme for youth exchanges between the two countries. Continued youth exchanges under the program are expected to play a role in promoting communication and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, and moving the bilateral relations forward in a future-oriented and stable manner.
