1. The fifth Counter-terrorism Consultation between the Republic of Korea and China will take place in Busan on October 21, with Ambassador for Global Counter-terrorism Cooperation Huh Chul and Director-General for External Security Affairs Liu Guangyuan of the ROK and Chinese Foreign Ministries leading their respective delegations.
2. In the consultation, the two sides will make an assessment of the current terrorism situations in Asia and the Middle East as well as the issue involving foreign terrorist fighters that has emerged as one of the biggest global problems. They will also discuss ways to step up cooperation on cyber counter-terrorism and counter-terrorism cooperation in the UN system.
3. The ROK has held Counter-terrorism Consultations with China on an annual basis since 2010. It has also held such meetings with its other major partners, including the US, Russia and Japan, in order to work more closely with those countries in countering international terrorism and better protecting their nationals abroad.
