1. The Foreign Ministry will hold the “2014 Korea-Japan-China Trilateral Cooperation Workshop for Public Officials” in Gyeongju on May 27-28. The forthcoming event, the third of its kind this year, will bring together a total of 100-odd public officials, including provincial government officials from China and Japan, who are working or studying in the Republic of Korea, the ROK’s counterparts handling international affairs and officials of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS).

2. Following the welcoming dinner for the officials on May 27, the program of the event for May 28 will include presentations on the trilateral cooperation and TCS activities as well as exchange cases among provincial governments of the three countries. The officials will also be offered a lecture on “Hallyu (Korean Wave) and Haplyu (confluence)” by the head of the narajjang.com website as well as an opportunity to visit cultural sites for first-hand experience of cultural Hallyu.

3. Reflecting keen interest of public officials of the three countries in the workshop, the event will be attended by a larger number of officials than before. As such, it is expected to help establish close network among them and pave the way for an expansion of the scope of the trilateral cooperation.

4. The Foreign Ministry has worked steadily to expand cooperation among central and provincial governments as well as the private sectors of the ROK, Japan and China. It will continue conducting various projects to this end.
