ROK, China and Japan to Meet to Prepare for FTA Negotiations

1. The Republic of Korea, China and Japan will hold a preparatory meeting at the Japanese Foreign Ministry on February 20 and 21 to start trilateral FTA negotiations.

° In the meeting, the delegates from the three countries will discuss the agenda and the schedule of the 1st round of negotiations for a trilateral FTA, which is set to take place in the ROK early this year.

2. The ROK delegation to the meeting will be led by the Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for East Asia FTA Kim Young-moo and comprised of relevant officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The Chinese and Japanese delegations will be headed by Sun Yuanjiang, Deputy Director-General of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce, and Yasushi Masaki, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, respectively.
