1. On the sides of the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, Foreign Minister Kim Sung-
Hwan met with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on November 30 at Bexco to exchange a wide range
of views on the overall ROK-US relations.

2. Foreign Minister Kim and Secretary Clinton appreciated that President Lee Myung-bak’s visit to the
US in October and the recent ratification of the KORUS FTA by both countries have contributed to further
developing the ROK-US ties into an economic alliance, in addition to the existing security alliance.
Taking note of close cooperation between the two countries on alliance-related matters as well as
the North Korean nuclear issue, the two sides agreed to continue working together in this regard.

3. Foreign Minister Kim and Secretary Clinton shared the view that the ROK-US Foreign and Defense
Ministers’ Meeting, the inaugural of which took place in Seoul in July 2010, is a consultative framework
conducive to further deepening the bilateral strategic alliance. They agreed to hold the next round of this
Two-Plus-Two Meeting in Washington at a mutually convenient time next year.
