1. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Mr. Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz, will pay an official visit to the
Republic of Korea from August 21st to 24th, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr.
Ban Ki-moon.
2. Minister Cimoszewicz is scheduled to visit the National Cemetery, pay courtesy calls to the ROK
President and the Chairman of the National Assembly, hold talks with the Minister of Commerce, Industry
and Energy, participate in the bilateral Foreign Ministers’ Talks and attend a luncheon hosted by Minister
Ban, and tour the Panmunjom area. In addition, Minister Cimoszewicz will be accompanied by Polish
businesspersons who will discuss measures for trade and investment cooperation with their Korean
counterparts.
3. At the official Foreign Ministers’ Talks scheduled for August 23rd, the two foreign ministers will
deliberate on measures to enhance the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and
increase cooperation in the international fora. They will exchange views on issues of common interest, such
as the situation in the Korean peninsula including the North Korean nuclear issue, EU integration, and the
dispatch of troops to Iraq.
4. Minister Cimoszewicz’s visit to Korea is expected to further enhance bilateral relations between Korea
and Poland, as the two countries celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
this year.
