1. The 1st Korea-India Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue, participated by the relevant officials of foreign
and defense ministries of the two countries, is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on January 20, 2005.
2. The ROK delegation will be headed by Director-General of the Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau, Park Joon-
woo, and participated by the relevant officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Ministry of
Defense; and the Indian delegation will be led by Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External
Affairs, A.K. Kantha, and participated by the relevant officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and the
Ministry of Defense.
3. Taking this opportunity, the two sides plan to discuss the following issues: security environment around
the ROK and India such as the security situation in Northeast Asia and Southwest Asia; regional and
international security issues such as multilateral security bodies of the region (e.g. ARF), counter-terrorism
efforts and non-proliferation of WMD; and bilateral cooperation in the area of defense.
4. The governments of the ROK and India agreed to hold the Korea-India Foreign Policy and Security
Dialogue through a joint statement during President Roh Moo-hyun's state visit to India in October 2004. It
is a regularized consultative body in the area of foreign policy and security between the two countries, which
will be held annually, and alternately in the ROK and India.
