On March 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean Bar Association (KBA).
This MOU outlines joint initiatives in a range of areas, including legal advice concerning Korean legal system to promote international exchanges and cooperation with friendly countries, legal counsel to victims in the event of natural disasters and social catastrophes abroad, and educational training on international law.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul expressed satisfaction that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the KBA are actively seeking collaboration in the legal field at a crucial time when the Republic of Korea’s global influence is expanding. He also expressed hope that this MOU will serve as a foundation for identifying and pursuing comprehensive cooperative endeavors across various areas.
President of the KBA Kim Young Hoon described plans to proactively promote the export of the Republic of Korea's advanced judicial system and legal services, as well as overseas expansion targeting the legal markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Following this MOU, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to continue collaborating with the KBA to ensure the protection of Korean citizens abroad and support the global activities of the Korean legal community.
