1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin held a breakfast meeting with Japan's new Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamikawa Yoko from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., September 21 during the high-level week of the 78th session of the U.N. General Assembly held in New York.

2. Foreign Minister Park congratulated Foreign Minister Kamikawa on her inauguration, and the two sides expressed their hope for close communication for continued positive advances in Korea-Japan relations.

3. The two Foreign Ministers promised to discuss issues and mutual interests between Korea and Japan and to continue the momentum to improve relations between the two countries.

4. In addition, the two Foreign Ministers agreed to strengthen Korea-Japan and Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)’s nuclear issue as well as regional and global affairs, including Russia-DPRK military cooperation, and to revitalize Korea-Japan-China consultative bodies with the aim of realizing a Korea-Japan-China Trilateral Summit within this year.
