1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 5th Korea-China-Japan Cyber Policy Consultation virtually on Wednesday, December 9.
° The consultation was led by Mr. Lee Choong-myon, Ambassador for International Security Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea; Mr. Wang Lei, Coordinator for Cyber Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China; and Mr. Akahori Takeshi, Ambassador for UN Affairs and Cyber Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan with the participation of officials from cybersecurity-related agencies.
2. At the consultation, the three sides exchanged views on the assessment of cyber threats, including the impact of COVID-19; international and regional processes, such as the United Nations (UN) and ASEAN Regional Forum; and possible areas for trilateral cooperation.
3. The Korea-China-Japan Cyber Policy Consultation has been hosted by the three countries on a rotational basis since 2014 and plays the role of a consultative mechanism aimed to promote regional cooperation in the area of cybersecurity.
