MIKTA Foreign Ministers Adopt Joint Statement to Extend Sympathies over Earthquake in Turkey and Greece

1. The foreign ministers of the MIKTA members -- the Republic of Korea, the United Mexican States, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Turkey and the Commonwealth of Australia -- adopted a joint statement on November 5 to extend sympathies over the earthquake that had hit the Turkish province of Izmir and the Greek island of Samos on October 30.


2. In the joint statement, the foreign ministers of the MIKTA countries mentioned that they are deeply saddened by the loss of life caused by the earthquake on October 30, extended their deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families, and expressed their solidarity with the governments and the peoples of Turkey and Greece.
 

3. The joint statement, coordinated by the ROK, the MIKTA Chair for this year, is seen to have served as an opportunity to offer sympathies over the earthquake in Turkey and Greece and to reaffirm the solidarity among the MIKTA members.
