Government Official (A2)

Eligibility criteria for application You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are
  • A person performs official tasks for a foreign government or an international organization
    • Administrative, technical or service staff of a foreign diplomatic mission in Korea
    • Administrative, technical or service staff of a foreign consular office in Korea
    • Employees of an international organization whose headquarters is located in Korea
    • Employees of an international organization or foreign government, working at their Korean mission(s) for their assignments.
    • People dispatched by a foreign government and international organization for official mission(s) with the Korea Government
    • People attending a conference and other events hosted by an international Organization
  • Immediate family members of the above applicants
    • Immediate family members who live with the above applicants
Documents
  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport(Laissez-passer, international organization passer, diplomatic passport), a photo in a standard format
  • A document demonstrating your current employment status and overseas assignment, or an official letter of cooperation written by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of an applicant's country
  • A certificate of family relation and any documents proving family relationship for an accompanied family member

Short-term News Coverage (C-1)

Eligibility criteria for application You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are
  • A representative of the foreign media travelling to the Republic of Korea for temporary news coverage · report
  • A journalist seeking for temporary news coverage · report on the basis of a contract with the foreign media
  • A representative preparing to establish a Korean branch office of the foreign media outlet
If you continue to stay in the ROK after you have successfully established the Korean branch office, you are allowed to change your status of stay to the Long-Term News Coverage ( D-5 ) visa.

  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport, a photo in a standard format, fee
  • An international press card or a document demonstrating an applicant's current employment status or overseas assignment

Short-term employment (C-4)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A person who plans to work at a domestic company in a field of e-business (i.e. information technology, e-commerce), biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials industry (metal, ceramics, and chemistry), transportation machinery, digital electronics, environment·energy, or technology management, and who have received an employment recommendation by the minister of respective department.

  • Employment Contract
  • Employment Recommendation Letter from the respective department (affiliated organizations)
  • Documents relevant to the establishment of institution (A copy of Business Registration Certificate or a certified copy of Corporate Register )

Students (D-2)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A person who plans to enroll for education of associate degree at an academic research institute, or a community college or above, established in accordance with the Higher Education Act or Special Act

Documents
  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport, a photo in a standard format, fee
  • A copy of Business Registration Certificate (or Registration Number Certificate) of a respective education institute
  • Standard Acceptance Letter* (issued by the dean/president of the university)
  • Documents relevant to the establishment of institution (A copy of Business Registration Certificate or a certified copy of Corporate Register ) * For scholarship students invited by the National Institute for International Education or the Ministry of National Defense of ROK, an invitation letter issued by the director or minister can be a replacement
  • Original copy of document indicating the final level of education
  • Original copy of document proving your financial ability to support yourself (one-year tuition fee and the living expenses for a year)
    • When submitting a parent's bank statement, family relation certificate is required to submit.

Korean Language Trainee (D-4)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A student at a secondary educational institution such as high school or below, or a high school graduate, who plans to study Korean language at an institution established in accordance with the Higher Education Act, or the Special Act on Establishment and Management of Foreign Educational Institutions in Free Economic Zones and Jeju Free International City

Documents
  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport, a photo in a standard format, fee
  • A copy of Business Registration Certificate (or Registration Number Certificate) of a respective education institute
  • Standard Acceptance Letter* (issued by the dean/president of the university) * For scholarship students invited by the National Institute for International Education, an invitation letter issued by the director can be a replacement
  • Proof of Enrollment or any documents proving your highest level of education
  • Original copy of document proving your financial statement * In principle, documents proving your financial abilities must be reviewed through original copies (ex, bank statement, bankbook, scholarship receipt, deposit/withdrawal statement), and when necessary, a duplicate copy can be attached after an official-in-charge compares the original copy and duplicate copy to confirm authenticity (bank statement is only accepted when it is issued within the past 30 days) When submitting a parent's bank statement, family relation certificate must be attached.
  • Training Plan (Lecture Schedule, Lecturers' Profiles, Training Facility and etc.)
  • Certificate of international student insurance or National Health Insurance (only Elementary, Middle, High school student) * A graduate-to-be is excluded. ** Insurance policy including period of insurance above residence days

Religious Worker (D-6)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A person who plans to engage in social service activities upon the invitation of Korean religious organizations or social welfare service agencies.

Documents
  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport, a photo in a standard format, fee
  • A dispatch order
  • A copy of permit to the establishment of religious organization or social welfare service organization
  • Documents demonstration a respective organization supports the living expenses of an applicant in ROK

Intra-Company Transferee (D-7)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

An executive, senior manager, or specialist dispatched to a Korean branch

Documents
  • Application form for Confirmation of Visa Issuance (Form No. 21), a copy of passport, a photo in a standard format
  • A Statement of Invitation
  • A document demonstrating you are a highly required specialist (i.e. resume, a certificate of employment history)
  • A proof of an applicant's current employment status from an applicant's company
  • A dispatch order from an applicant's organization
  • A document relevant to the establishment of a Korean branch
    • A copy of a permission for the establishment of a Korean branch or a copy of an Acceptance of Declaration
  • A document demonstrating that a Korean branch or a liaison office is operated properly
    • A record of the inflow of funds or capital to a Korean branch or liaison office in ROK
    • In case of a newly-established company, a business management outline is required to submit
    • A Certificate of Tax Payment, etc
If a representative is hired, he/she must submit a Power of Attorney from an applicant, his/her employment certificate and A copy of ID Card. The head of Immigration Office may request for additional documents if it is deemed necessary to review the purpose of entry, validity of an invitation, and qualification of an inviting organization or an invitee.

Incorporated Enterprise (D-8)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

An indispensable skilled worker dispatched by a foreign company which has invested in the ROK in accordance with regulations of the 「Foreign Investment Promotion Act」, and who plans to engage in management, administration, production, or technology at the foreign company

Documents
  • Visa Application Form (Form No. 17), passport, a photo in a standard format, fee
  • A dispatch order indicating the period of a dispatch and a certificate of employment
  • A Foreign Investment Notification form or A copy of Certificate of FDI Company Registration
  • A copy of Business Registration Certificate, a copy of unabridged corporate registration, an original copy of a statement demonstrating the change of shareholders
  • Documents demonstrating a transfer of investment capitals Case A. Investment in Cash
    • A permission of a foreign currency transfer, or a confirmation of foreign currency remittance issued by the respective customs service or a bank (or a financial institution) of a respective country
    • A statement of investment funds such as a confirmation of foreign currency transfer, a certificate of purchased foreign currency, a customs declaration form and others Case B. Investment in Kind
    • A copy of Confirmation of Completion of In-Kind Investment issued by the head of Korean Customs Service
    • A copy of Customs Import Declaration Certificate
  • Additional documents for private investors who has invested less than 300 million KRW
    • Documents demonstrating an initial capital such as a receipt for the purchased goods, costs of office interior, a bank statement
    • Documents verifying the existence of business (i.e. an office lease contract, photos of an office in a front and an inside view, a street sign of a company or others)
    • Documents proving work or entrepreneurial experiences from an applicant's country.

International Trade (D-9)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A trader engaging in a corporate management, international trade, or for-profit business who is given a trader serial number by the head of Korea International Trade Association in accordance with the provisions of International Trade Laws and Regulations

* Only for a trader whose annual trade turnover with ROK reaches US $500,000 or more is eligible to apply.

Documents
  • Application form for Confirmation of Visa Issuance (Form No. 21), a copy of passport, a photo in a standard format
  • An Invitation Statement
  • A copy of Business Registration Certificate or a certified copy of unabridged Corporate Register
  • A copy of international trade registration or a copy of International Trade Agent Registration
  • A copy of business plan or documents demonstrating the inflow of capital or funds to ROK for business operation
  • Any documents proving trade performances with Korea
    • A statement of trade performance
  • A certificate of annual tax payment

Foreign Language Instructor (E-2)

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

  • A teacher at an English Academy
    • A person who wants to teach a foreign language in accordance with Article 3(3) of the presidential decree of the Act on the Establishment and Operation of Private Teaching Institutes and Extracurricular Lessons
  • A teacher at an academic institution such as elementary school or higher, or recruited/selected by an affiliated language center.
  • A foreign language instructor at corporate language centers for employee on-the-job-training
  • A foreign language instructor at a continuing education institute in accordance with the Lifelong Education Act * A school affiliated continuing education facility, a continuing education institute in a form of a school, a university affiliated to a company, or online campus, an continuing education affiliate of civil society groups or media organizations, a continuing education facility related to the development of knowledge and human resources.
  • A foreign language instructor teaching at a continuing education facility established and run by a state or local government in accordance with other laws (including regulations)
  • A foreign language instructor teaching at a vocational facility or vocational corporation established in accordance with the Workers Vocational Skills Development Act
  • A corporation or a public institute* which has set up a language center with required equipment and facilities to teach a foreign language for its employees
Documents
  • Application form for Confirmation of Visa Issuance (Form No. 21), a copy of passport, a photo in a standard format
  • A proof of an applicant's education authenticated by a public authority*. Please, choose one from below to submit; A copy of a degree, a copy of diploma, a graduation certificate indicating an acquisition of a degree *The document needs to be authenticated by the Hague Apostille Convention(for a signatory of the convention), or by consular officers of a Korean diplomatic mission abroad (for not a signatory of the convention), or by an official public institute in Korea (i.e. Korean Council for University Education), or by a government agency of applicants(Japanese only)
    • If you have a degree from a university in ROK, an un-authenticated copy of a degree will also be accepted.
    • If you have a history of submitting a document authenticated by the institutes listed above, you are exempt from the requirement.
  • A criminal record issued and authenticated by a public authority* in an applicant's country The document needs to be authenticated by the Hague Apostille Convention(for a signatory of the convention), or by consular officers of a Korean diplomatic mission abroad (for not a signatory of the convention), or by consular officers of a foreign embassy in Korea (for a foreign resident in Korea)
    • The criminal records that includes all criminal records across the country, must be issued within 6 months from the application date.
    • If you have a history of submitting a criminal record authenticated by a public authority, staying and leaving ROK, and re-apply within 3 months from the last departure from ROK, you are exempt from submitting the document. However, if it has been more than 3 months since the last departure, you need to re-submit it when applying for an alien registration.
  • A Self-Assessment Report on Heath
  • An employment contract, and a document of the establishment of an academic institute or an organization
  • Other necessary documents for evaluation
    • an outline of teachers management, a document suggesting the total number of students and faculties

Spouse of a Korean National

Eligibility criteria for application

You are eligible to apply for this visa if you are

A person with valid marital status in Korea, who plans to stay in Korea to continue your marriage
