2027 Global Korea Scholarship for Undergraduate Degrees (GKS-U)

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is pleased to announce the 2027 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) Program for Undergraduate Degrees.

The GKS Program aims to invite international students to pursue undergraduate degree programs at universities in the Republic of Korea.

[Selection Procedure]

ㅇ Application Period: 

   September 15, 2026, 05:00 Kenyan Time [11:00 (Korean Time)] – September 30, 2026, 12:00 Kenyan Time [18:00 (Korean Time)]

ㅇ Application Method: Online application via the Study in Korea website (www.studyinkorea.go.kr)

  - Applicants must first create an account on the system, complete the required information, and upload the required documents.

 - Attached '2027 GKS UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS INFORMATION FORM' should be sent by email to "secretary-ke01@mofa.go.kr" within 48 hours after submitting the applications.

※ Please carefully review all information entered and documents uploaded before submitting your online application, as changes may be restricted after submission.

[Quota for Kenyan citizen]

Embassy Track: General Track (1 students), R-GKS Track (1 student)

※ Applicants may apply to only one track (General or R-GKS) under the Embassy Track.

※ Multiple applications will result in disqualification. If a duplicate application is discovered after selection, the applicant’s acceptance will be cancelled.

Please refer to the attached guidelines and the link below for the list of eligible universities and departments:

 - General Track applicants: May apply to up to 3 universities, including at least 1 Type B university.

 - R-GKS Track applicants: May apply to up to 2 Type B universities.

※ Applicants may only apply to universities and departments included in the official list of eligible universities and departments. Applications to universities or departments not included in the list are not permitted.

[Required Documents]

Applicants who pass the interview will be required to submit consular-confirmed supporting documents for the subsequent evaluation process, as required by the NIIED conducting the second round of selection.

[Schedule for Embassy Evalutaion] 

- Document Submission Deadline: September 30, 2026

- Document Screening Results: By October 13, 2026 (※ Only shortlisted applicants will be notified.)

- Interview: October 14, 2026

- Interview Results: By October 16, 2026

※ Only applicants who pass the document screening will be invited for an interview.

※ The Embassy will individually notify only successful applicants at each stage of the selection process.
