The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea will hold the “15th Workshop for Overseas Honorary Consuls of Korea” from Monday, September 14, to Saturday, September 19. Launched in 2010, the program aims to enhance honorary consuls’ understanding of Korea and their roles and responsibilities, enabling them to more effectively support the protection of Korean nationals abroad and diplomatic activities.

Marking its 15th edition, this year’s workshop will bring together honorary consuls from 10 countries*. Beginning with a welcome reception today, the honorary consuls will take part in a variety of activities over the course of the six-day program, including a seminar to share best practices among honorary consuls, special lectures on economic and security issues, tours of cultural and industrial facilities, and a visit to the DMZ. Through these activities, they will experience firsthand the competitiveness and value of Korea’s leading “K-Initiatives” in areas such as culture, food, and industry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to implement related programs to help honorary consuls around the world further strengthen their capabilities to protect Korean nationals abroad and support diplomatic activities.
