The Preparatory Office for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an 「Offline Promotional Event for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026」(Tagline: Meet through Silk Road) at Cheonggye Plaza in Jung-gu, Seoul, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

This offline promotional event was organized to wish for a successful hosting of the historic First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026 and to promote nationwide engagement with the Summit through direct interaction with the public on site. 'Meet through Silk Road,' a fitting tagline for the event held in the city, shed a friendly light on the cultures of the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) and provided a special opportunity for citizens and foreign tourists to interact with the cultures.

This offline promotional event captivated the participants with diverse interactive programs, allowing them to experience Central Asian cultures and show their support for the Summit. Participants enjoyed the eye-catching traditional attire of the five Central Asian countries, took part in a quiz about Central Asia at a kiosk and received commemorative gifts. In addition, people made special memories by taking pictures in a photo booth featuring photo strips with landmarks of each Central Asian country. Last but not least, people were served with tea, a quintessential representation of Central Asian countries’ warm welcoming culture, which further enriched the vibrant atmosphere of cultural exchange at Cheonggye Plaza.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Chung Eui-hae (also serving as the Head of the Preparatory Office for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026) hoped that “this offline promotional event served as a memorable opportunity for citizens to experience the captivating cultures of Central Asia in an easy and friendly way, even in everyday space.” She further emphasized that “the Preparatory Office will seamlessly prepare for the upcoming summit, scheduled to be hosted in Seoul on September 16, so that it can serve as more than just an official diplomatic event between countries. It will serve as a milestone for young people from Korea and Central Asian countries, the key players of the future, to interact heart-to-heart and solidify friendship.”
