Preparatory Office for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026 and Hyundai Motor Company Sign MOU on Vehicle Support

On the afternoon of Monday, July 27, 2026, at Seohee Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Preparatory Office for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026 and Hyundai Motor Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on vehicle support for the 「First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026」. At the signing ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Chung Eui-hae (Head of the Preparatory Office) and Senior Vice President of the Global Policy Office at Hyundai Motor Group, Kim Dong Jo, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations.


This MOU was signed to establish a cooperative system between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hyundai Motor Company for the successful hosting of the First Korea-Central Asia Summit, to be held in Korea in September, 2026.


As stated in the MOU, Hyundai Motor Company will provide a total of 33 vehicles for the duration of the Summit. This is expected to contribute greatly to seamless and safe protocol support for distinguished foreign guests, including the Heads of State and their spouses, and ministerial-level officials of the five Central Asian countries*.

* Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan


In her welcoming speech, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Chung Eui-hae stated that this Summit will be a meaningful opportunity to set a new milestone in developing the future-oriented cooperative relations between Korea and Central Asian countries. In addition, Deputy Foreign Minister Chung emphasized that vehicle support from Hyundai Motor Company, world-renowned for its technological capabilities and product quality, will be a tremendous help in ensuring the successful hosting of the Summit.


Senior Vice President of the Global Policy Office at Hyundai Motor Group, Kim Dong Jo, stated that it is an honor to provide official protocol vehicles for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit, to be held in Korea. Furthermore, Senior Vice President Kim stated that they will actively cooperate to make this Summit a success based on their extensive experiences in providing vehicle support for domestic and international events.

 

The Preparatory Office for the First Korea-Central Asia Summit 2026 will make thorough preparations for the successful hosting of the Summit, in close cooperation with relevant organizations and the private sector, including Hyundai Motor Company.
