The “Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” came into effect on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The entry into force of this Agreement is viewed as having strengthened cooperation with Jordan, which is located at a key hub in the Levant, a geographically strategic region in the Middle East, while also establishing a legal foundation for further expanding opportunities for Korean companies to enter the Middle East market.
* The Levant refers to the eastern Mediterranean coastal area, encompassing Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Israel and neighboring states.
In particular, under this Agreement, the two countries will establish a Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation to monitor the implementation of the Agreement, explore new areas of cooperation, and discuss ways to expand and diversify their economic relations.
For reference, the annual bilateral trade volume reached US$619 million in 2025. Korea mainly exports automobiles and pharmaceuticals, while Jordan’s principal exports include industrial flame retardants and copper and articles thereof.
