On the occasion of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in France, Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held a meeting with Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha on March 27, at the request of the Ukrainian side. The two ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Minister Cho expressed his appreciation for the continued high-level exchanges between the two countries despite the challenging circumstances since the outbreak of the war. He expressed hope for an early end to the war through diplomatic efforts and noted that the Korean government is closely monitoring related developments with great interest.

Minister Cho also explained that the Korean government is continuing its humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including support for reconstruction.

Minister Sybiha expressed his gratitude for Minister Cho’s remarks and hoped that the two countries would continue their cooperation on the international stage.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the war in Ukraine. In particular, they agreed to continue cooperating to address the issue of North Korean prisoners of war in Ukraine in a manner consistent with international law and humanitarian principles.
