Starting on September 22, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and relevant companies will conduct a survey of 316 Korean nationals who have returned home after detention in Georgia, the U.S. The purpose of the survey is to obtain details on their arrest and detention.

Participants may respond to the survey by September 29 (extendable if necessary) via links sent individually by text or email. (Optional) One-on-one interviews will follow with those who wish to share further details.

By conducting the survey, the Korean government intends to get an accurate picture of the detention conditions and the treatment of those Koreans as well as difficulties they sustained. If necessary, the Korean government will share the findings with the U.S. side and raise the issue.
