316 Korean nationals detained at the U.S. ICE facility in Georgia departed the Folkston facility at 02:18 on Thursday, September 11 (local time) and are en route to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The charter flight is scheduled to depart at around 12:00 (local time) and is expected to arrive at Incheon Airport at around 16:00 on Friday, September 12.

Of the 317 Korean nationals detained, 316 (excluding one who declined voluntary departure) will return on this charter flight. Additionally, 14 foreign employees of Korean companies (3 Japanese, 10 Chinese and 1 Indonesian) will also board, bringing the total number of returnees to 330.

The Korean government has been fully committed to the resolution of the situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs formed a "one-team", working in close collaboration with relevant companies. Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun and Secretary of State Rubio finalized the details for resolving the situation in the Korea-U.S. Foreign Ministers’ meeting and established a foundation for future Korea-U.S. cooperation on visa-related matters. First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Yoonjoo was urgently dispatched on Tuesday, September 9 to reinforce the rapid response team led by Jung Ki-hong, Government Representative for Korean Nationals Overseas Protection and Consular Affairs, and oversee on-site operations for the detainees’ swift and safe return.

The government will exert utmost efforts until all nationals safely arrive home.
