- Marking the conclusion of 4 months of official activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, including visits to sites tracing the Provisional Government’s journey in Guangzhou, Liuzhou, and Changsha, participation in expert talk shows, discussions with diplomats from the Chinses Embassy in Korea, and the production of online promotional content -
On September 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) held the closing ceremony for the < 3rd Korea-China Youth Group for Future Friendship Promotion> at the Seohui Hall of MOFA.
The ceremony was attended by all 30 members of six teams (18 Koreans and 12 Chinese) who had participated in the program over the course of 4 months (April 30-September 5). The event included a review of the group’s activities, congratulatory remarks by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Yoonjoo, the presentation of awards for outstanding participants, and the awarding of certificates of completion.
The Group conducted a variety of activities designed to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Korea and China. These included visits to historical and cultural sites in both countries, attendance at expert talk shows, dialogues with diplomats from the Embassy of China in Seoul, and the production of online promotional content.
In particular, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, the Group visited historical sites related to the independence movement both in Korea and abroad in May, revisiting the long-standing historical bonds between the two nations.
In his congratulatory remarks, Vice Minister Park Yoonjoo stated that youth exchanges such as this program serve as a vital channel that deepens and broadens bilateral relations between the two countries, and expressed his expectation that the group members would become reliable ‘pillars of support’ for the future of Korea-China relations.
The youth representatives noted that through the activities of the Friendship Promotion Group, they were able to understand the past - the historical cooperation between the two countries during Korea’s independence movement - as well as to better understand each other in the present as young people living in the same era, and to build meaningful ties that will help them open the future together. They expressed their aspiration to contribute to the advancement of Korea-China friendship based on this experience.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the 1st (2022) and 2nd (2024) Friendship Promotion Groups, who joined to celebrate the completion of the program and to engage in exchanges with the current participants. In addition, “Captain Brother(캡틴따거)” (YouTube Creator with 600,000 subscribers), who was appointed by MOFA last year as a “Korea-China Friendship Ambassador,” delivered a congratulatory video message.
※ The Korea-China Youth Group for Future Friendship Promotion has been organized since 2022 with the goal of fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the young generations of the two countries. The program provides a platform for direct exchange among Korean and Chinese university and graduate students and supports a variety of friendship-building activities.
MOFA will continue to design and implement diverse exchange programs to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Korea and China, thereby strengthening the foundation for the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
