1. Ambassador Kim Seung-ho of the Republic of Korea to Iran and Traffic Police Chief General Taghi Mehri of Iran signed in Iran on April 27, local time, the ROK-Iran Memorandum of Understanding on the Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driver’s Licenses.
2. The MOU calls for mutually acknowledging the validity of driver’s licenses of both ROK nationals living in the Iran and Iranians living in the ROK. It was brought into force immediately after being signed on April 27.
° The MOU, concluded four days ahead of President Park Geun-hye’s visit to Iran, will help improve the convenience of the peoples of the two countries living in each other’s countries and especially the operations of Korean companies in Iran.
4. The ROK government will actively seek agreements on the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses with other countries with many Korean residents in continued efforts to resolve challenges facing Koreans and to promote their convenience in expanding their presence overseas.
