1. The Foreign Ministry will hold cultural events in Venezuela and Colombia on April 18 and 21, respectively, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the ROK and Venezuela in 2015 and strengthen friendly cooperation and cultural exchanges with Latin American countries.

* Date and venue
o Venezuela (Caracas)
- 2015.4.18 (Sat.) 17:00-18:30, Teresa Carreño Theater
o Colombia (Bogota)
- 2015.4.21 (Tue.) 19:00-20:30, Patria Theater

2. At the events, “Yeonhee Group The Gwang Dae,” a traditional performing arts troupe, will showcase various traditional Korean performances, including Pungmul (Korean folk music tradition that includes drumming, dancing and singing), mask dance, lion dance, and Beona nori (plate-spinning). “Jinjo Crew,” a b-boy crew which has won the world’s five major b-boy competitions, will also present Korean-style b-boy performances on the same stage, introducing Korea’s dynamic traditional and modern cultures to the Latin American audience.

3. In Venezuela, with which the ROK marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, the two performance groups will appear on a national broadcast on April 16 and introduce Korean culture through a short show and a live interview. On April 17, a workshop for teenagers in the country will take place to provide Venezuelan youth with an opportunity to learn traditional Korean culture and b-boying first hand.

4. The upcoming cultural events are expected to promote Korea’s image as a charming country and contribute to further enhancing the ROK’s friendly relations with Venezuela and Colombia by presenting Korean culture which combines tradition and modernity in a harmonious way to the Latin American people, who have less chance to see Korean cultural performing groups.
