1. Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan is scheduled to attend the G20 Ministerial Meeting on
Development, to be held on September 23 in the headquarters of the World Bank in Washington, DC.
2. Minister Kim will deliver a keynote speech at the meeting at the request of France, the chair of G20
in 2011, in recognition of Korea’s status as the chair of the G2O in 2010 and a leader in shaping
the G20 development agenda.
3. In his keynote speech, Minister Kim will stress the importance of global development in ensuring
the stability and balanced growth of the world economy and the need for the combined effort by the
G20 member countries for the continued implementation of the “Seoul Development Consensus,”
which was adopted in the Seoul G20 Summit last year. In addition, the Minister will note the major
accomplishments achieved in the area of G20 development in 2011, and call for continued
international efforts to carry out all the major recommendations on the G20 development agenda
as planned in 2012.
