
1. Vice Minister Cho Jung-pyo had talks with the President of
the Sakha Republic in the Russian Federation Vyacheslav A.
Shtyrov, who is paying a visit to Korea from October 21 to 25.
They exchanged views on ways to promote substantial
cooperation between Korea and the Republic of Sakha.
2. Vice Minister Cho noted bilateral cooperation in the area of
energy and resources such as collaboration in the Erel
Bituminous Coal Mine Project. He asked President Shtyrov to
render cooperative efforts for the Korean companies to actively
engage in business in the Sakha Republic.
3. Vice Minister Cho hoped that the ‘Presentation of the Republic of Sakha in the Republic of Korea plus Round Tables for Business Circles,’ to be held in Seoul on October 24, will be an opportunity to arouse interest to
Korean companies about investing in the Sakha Republic and to engage in business there.
4. President Shtyrov introduced the ‘2020 Sakha Republic General Industrial Development Plan’ made by the
Sakhan government, and expected that the Korean companies will actively participate in the major projects
regarding the development of the the Far Eastern Siberia from 2008 to 2013.
5. Both sides agreed to continue exerting collaborative efforts in economy and trade, and also in various
areas such as establishment of the Korean Education and Culture Center and resettlement of ethnic
Koreans in the Sakha Republic.
